MICHELLE'S PRIORITIES
Protecting Reproductive Freedom
Michelle Chambers will be a champion for women in the State Senate. She will fight to protect access to safe, legal abortion care and other critical reproductive health care like birth control and cancer screenings. She will ensure Planned Parenthood has the funds to provide these essential health care services, which is why she is the only candidate endorsed by California Women’s List, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County Action Fund and Reproductive Freedom for All California.
Funding Our Public Schools:
Chambers believes education is the key to unlocking opportunity and creating a brighter future for all Californians. She will work to fully fund local public schools and increase access to higher education. She will expand affordable childcare, career-training, vocational education, and after-school programs for local youth to help kids stay out of trouble and prepare them for the future.
Fighting for Working Families
Chambers is a steadfast champion for working families. She understands people are struggling with wages that fail to keep up with rising costs. She is committed to creating good-paying union jobs, increasing the minimum wage and growing the middle class, while implementing paid family leave, affordable childcare, and equal pay for equal work. That’s why she is the only candidate supported by the California Labor Federation and labor unions that represent hundreds of thousands of working people, including nurses, classroom teachers, grocery store workers, transit workers, construction workers and more.
Preventing Gun Violence:
Chambers will work to tirelessly to keep our schools, churches and communities safe from gun violence. She will fight to strengthen common-sense gun safety laws, including red flag laws to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and domestic abusers. She will invest in critical mental health services, and officially declare gun violence a public health and safety crisis. That’s why she is the only candidate for State Senate endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund.
Tackling Homelessness & Building Affordable Housing:
Chambers will work to deliver real solutions to combat L.A. County’s homeless crisis. She will support innovative programs like California’s new CARE Courts, which help get unhoused people with severe mental health issues off our streets and into housing and services like mental health and addiction treatment and job training. And she will increase funding and cut red tape to build more affordable housing, and provide more accountability for current homelessness programs.
